Jordon Golf Best Man

Jake Marshall Groomsman

Well Mikey, who would have thought that needing a roommate 15-16 yrs ago (It’s been too long ago I can’t remember exactly), I would have ended up with one of my best friends, and you asking me to be one of your Groomsman on your wedding day? We’ve had sooo many great times and stories, (too many to say in this), and a few bad, but very few. The one thing I always admired about you was that through the good or the bad you never changed. You never judged and I always knew you’d be there for me. I don’t have to see you all the time. I don’t have to talk to you all the time, but when we do see each other or talk, we never miss a beat. I’ve really enjoyed watching you and Ebony’s relationship blossom throughout the years, and now with the addition of Olive becoming a family. I can’t wait for y’all to make it official. You are a great Father, Partner, and Friend. I hope you know I couldn’t be prouder of you. I Love You Brother!

Here’s is my blurb:
Even though Mike and I grew up a few minutes apart from each other in El Paso, we didn’t meet and become friends until we met at The Park in Austin. We’ve became very good friends almost immediately and have shared countless nights listening to music, hanging by the fire, and talking about anything and everything. I love him like a brother and am so happy and proud of the journey he’s taken to get to where he is. Nobody on the planet loves as much or has a bigger heart than Brucie and we are all better off having him in our lives...JC

I’m not sure exactly what qualifies someone to write one of these letters, but if surviving 35+ years of friendship, questionable decision-making, near-disasters, road trips, surf in our teens, hunting trips, and somehow making it into our 40s counts, then I guess I’m qualified.
Â
I’ve known Mike Mador since we were little kids, probably five years old. Over the years, we’ve lived about three lifetimes’ worth of adventures together. We spent summers surfing in San Diego as teenagers, traveled all over Texas in our early twenties with more confidence than common sense, chased elk unsuccessfully high in the Colorado mountains, and somehow managed to become much better fly fishermen than hunters. Looking back, I’m pretty sure our parents would be horrified to hear the full, unedited version of some of those stories.
Â
But through every chapter of Mike’s life, one thing has always been true: Mike cares deeply about people.  Whether he was 15, 25, 35, or now into our 40s, Mike has always been fiercely loyal to his friends and devoted to his family. He’s the kind of guy who shows up when people need him, the kind of guy who remembers what matters, and the kind of guy who carries a strong sense of honor and responsibility even when nobody is looking.  That’s why it’s been such a cool thing to watch him enter this chapter of life with Ebony.
Â
Over the last year especially, hearing Mike talk about Ebony and the life they’re building together, it’s obvious she’s brought a real sense of peace, balance, and happiness into his world. The pace of life feels different for him now, in the best possible way. He sounds grounded, fulfilled, and genuinely excited about building a future together and focusing on family.  And honestly, after all the miles, adventures, close calls, and laughs we’ve shared over the years, seeing my buddy this happy might be my favorite chapter yet.
Â
I wish you both a lifetime full of adventure, laughter, love, family, and stories that only get better with time. I hope your life together is filled with the same loyalty, joy, and depth of friendship that Mike has brought to the people lucky enough to know him.

And Mike, thanks for the memories. I wouldn’t trade a single one of them for the world.
Vatos locos por vida...Â

Mr. Mike Meador and I have known each other for quite some time. We met on the school bus in the 7th grade where we immediately realized we enjoyed getting into trouble together. Although our life journey’s took us down different paths at a young age we have managed to continue a great relationship through the miles apart and to get together for a cold beer every now and again. It is truly my pleasure to watch him experience Fatherhood and grow with Ebony and little Olive... and go fishing once in a while.  Jason
